SNES Super Nintendo Controller

A simple prop I modeled during my free time

Besides the controller cover, I also built the internal parts and explored how everything fits and connects together. I focused on the main shapes and connections to make it feel believable.
Most of the details, including the logos and lettering were modeled in geometry, with topology built for production ready standards for VFX production.

For the textures, I wanted to give it a used controller look, with some grunge, scratches and fingerprints. Textured in Substance Painter, with Photoshop used to match the logos and fonts, and rendered in Arnold for Maya.

I also made a simple animation showing the controller slowly coming apart and going back together. I made sure the screws line up with their holes and everything fits properly without intersections. It’s a great way to show the construction underneath the cover.

Also included wireframes to show how much of the detail is built into the geometry.
